Education
Join us on Sundays during the 9:45 am Christian Education hour to
experience one of these thought-provoking classes:
- Scripture Play:
Led by Mic Morris and Abbey Abendroth, this ongoing class meets
in Classroom 102. Come and participate in a discussion of the
Scripture that precedes the sermon each Sunday. Participants
will then analyze the Scripture in the context of the time,
place, and community in which it was written. Additionally,
participants discuss how the Scripture applies to the present
day, our lives, community, and world events.
- Growing in Faith:
This ongoing class is led by Rev. Gene Augustine and seeks to
help people deepen their faith and see its relevance for their
lives. Each week will have its own Scriputre passage
and discussion. Growing in Faith meets in Room C.
- Seekers & Joiners:
Led by Rev. Woody Brown and Dr. Ted Pierce, this class is
designed for individuals who want to learn more about Rolling
Hills, the Presbyterian denomination, and spiritual growth. New
members and visitors are welcome. Class meets in Room A and runs
through October 2nd.
- Have a New Kid by Friday:
This DVD series is led by Dr. Kevin Leman and helps parents
focus on their children's attitudes, behavior, and character.
Laura Breckenridge is the facilitator. Have a New Kid by
Friday meets in the Children's Activity Center downstairs
and runs through October 2nd.
- God in America:
Based on the PBS documentary series, this class examines how
religious dissidents helped shape the American concept of
religious liberty and impacted the history of the United States
from the American Revolution to the Cold War. Participants will
watch the DVD series in class and discuss various topics.
God in America is faciliated by Mic Morris, meets in Room
D, and runs through November.
- Sowing Tears, Reaping Joy:
The Bible & Brahms' Requiem: Led by Bob Brand,
this class begins October 9 and runs through November 6.
Sowing Tears will study the text and music of Brahms'
Requiem and its biblical orgins. Meets in Room A/B.
- Making the Most of
Marriage: This class will focus on how to take
your marriage from ordinary to extraordinary using a holisitc
approach. This class will be faciliated by Mindy Yowell and will
meet in the Children's Activity Center downstairs. Making
the Most of the Marriage begins October 9 and runs through
November 13.
- Our Community of Grace in the Social Media:
This class will offer how to use social media resources to stay
connected to friends, family, and Rolling Hills. The basics of
Facebook and Twitter will be discussed. Please bring your own
laptop or Ipad if you have one. Our Community of Grace in
the Social Media begins on November 27 and runs through
December 18.
Spiritual Nurture Dinners
Spiritual Nurture Dinners take place on 3rd and 4th Wednesdays
of the month. These evenings begin with a light supper at 5:30
followed by a program at 6:00. Recent topics include a look at
healthcare reform, a general review of Islam, a concentration camp
survivor’s story and an overview of the stained glass windows in the
sanctuary. Spiritual Nurture events are held throughout the year. Watch The Spire

The Vine (Young Adult Ministry)
The Vine is a fellowship and spiritual
formation group for people in their 20's and 30's. All young adults
are invited to come to weekly meetings of the Vine on Tuesday nights
at 6:30 pm at Rolling Hills. BYOD (bring your own dinner) and come
and enjoy diverse weekly programming that seeks to find common
ground with other young adults while deepening their spirituality.
Speakers will come and share with the group on the first and third
Tuesday of the month. The other two weeks will alternate between a
service opportunity and a social event. Check out the bulletin and
